We kick off with:

Voyage – From a very popular album from the late 70s with tracks that merged into each other giving continuous play on each side of the vinyl LP.

Mark Ronson ft Daniel Merriweather – Mark Ronson released a cover of The Smiths’ track. It reached number 2 in the UK singles charts, the biggest hit for Ronson to date.

Candido – Here is one that many of you will recognise, a massive floor filler at discos and parties, it appeared on a 12″single and on an album called Dancing & Prancing.

Joey Negro – Joey Negro is the pseudonym of British DJ and house music producer Dave Lee, born on the Isle of Wight. Joey Negro has become one of the most sought-after producers and remixers. He has worked under a variety of aliases, including Doug Willis, Z Factor, Sessomato and Mistura.

Janet Jackson - An amazing artist with a string of great albums spanning at least 3 decades. She is ranked by Billboard magazine as one of the top ten best-selling music artists in the history of contemporary music, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

Jade – From a 1992 release entitled Jade To The Max’.

Wes – One of the Doc’s all time favourite tracks – Has anyone got a translation? Consider it as African Jazz/ Dance music with a feel good buzz & beat.

LaSo – An incredible track the Prof first heard on Soul Spectrum, a radio show on London’s Capital Radio station in 1976 or 77. It is a long fusion of soul, funk, party music with a carnival atmosphere.

Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King – In 1981, King released the #6 R&B Album I’m in Love (also #28 on the Billboard 200), and released the title track, which became a #1 R&B hit, as well as a top 40 pop hit. The song was groundbreaking, in that no one had ever incorporated such heavy synthesizers into their music before. A second single from the I’m in Love album, ‘Don’t Hide Our Love’, also made it to #6 on the R&B Chart.

As a closing note for 2008, the Doc feels that the latter song encapsulates what the holiday season and Christmas is all about. We need a lot of understanding in the world if we are to work together to realise that there is strength through diversity and that we are all here only for a short period of time – so lets be good to each other …
