Dr. Groove and Professor Smooth are back in the studio again for another edition of our fortnightly podcast that includes as we say right at the start.. Smooth Jazz, Soul,  Jazz-Funk and more, But more is Moore as the movie music that kicks off this show is from a film that starred Roger Moore in his first role as James Bond in the 8th film of the series of action-adventure spy films, Live and Let Die.

Jiva- – A personal favourite of the Prof who’s regularly listened to Jiva on http://www.myspace.com/jivaonline – NB Good News this track is available on iTunes and on the new JazzFM compilation CD.. We’ve had Jiva’s music on Smooth Groovers before and have  also featured their lead vocalist Rhonda Thomas back in season 2.

BRING IT BACK SEGMENT

Maxwell – An incredible blend of funk and soul with a huge level of smoothness from a 1998 CD for which an Amazon.com reviewer wrote

it’s a groove masterpiece from start to finish.

The album is entitled: Embrya.

Brian Culbertson – from the CD: Bringing Back the Funk, a track that was probably not named after Dr Groove. Brian can be described as keyboardist, trombonist, writer, arranger, producer and the most exciting live performing instrumentalist on the scene today.

Paul Hardcastle, Direct Drive, First Light – A real blast from the past. Released 2001, which the Doc still has on original vinyl -first released back in 1981. As well as a string of popular hits, Paul has also recorded several synth jazz albums, alternating releases under the artist names The Jazzmasters, and Paul Paul. Working regularly with vocalist Helen Rogers. Last year he won the Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist Of The Year award.

Chieli Minucci and Special EFX – Ending the show with a track from the 2007 Special EFX CD entitled: Sweet Surrender. Another Prof favourite with feel-good-factor. At the end of the track Professor Smooth describes the origin of the song which you can also read about on Chieli’s website.
